Agility/Puppy classes starting June 02 at Country Lane Pet Resort

Here is what we have starting in June:
PUPPY CLASS for puppies eyes only! (9-16 weeks old)
This course is designed to teach you how to raise your puppy to be a great family pet.. New information about dogs, how they learn and are socialized point out the importance of doing as much work as you can before the age of 16 weeks in a positive manner. Teaching them what we want early is much easier than fixing later. Management techniques for in home training will be discussed such as housetraining, puppy biting and nipping. This course will have structured off leash play sessions to give you opportunity to teach your dog to come and pay attention to you even in the presence of distractions. Your puppy will learn the beginning stages of Pay Attention, Come, Sit, Walk on leash.Clicker Training will be introduced.

Foundation to agilitydogs aged 16 weeks and up - pre-requisite – Puppy or regular obedience recommended
*Dogs and handlers will learn the basic exercises and behaviors to prepare for the sport of agility. This is a fun class that will have dogs and handlers begin working together as a motivated team. Some modified agility equipment will be introduced

Intro to Agility - pre-requisite – Foundation to agility *Dogs and handlers will be introduced to safe and accurate performance of the various agility obstacles running in straight lines with their dogs. This class builds upon the foundation work from the previous class. Short handling sequences will be introduced dog/handler teams must be able to perform all obstacles and perform basic agility behaviors to progress to the next level. (Proficient at targeting to hand and on the ground on the, low teeter, dog walk, a-frame. Jumps, table, tunnels from a distance of 1m, chute with short fabric, tire, correct weave poles entry, start line stay, front cross, short handling sequence of 6 obstacles with one change of side)

______________________________________________________________________ Intermediate Agility - Pre requisite - Intro to agility
This class is all about equipment and focus on getting your dog to higher sized equipment while learning basic handling skills. Dogs must be comfortable on full sized equipment, have a target que and a reasonable recall off leash in order to move to advanced agility.

Advanced agility Skills, pre-requisite –Intermediate Agility
This Class builds on the Intermediate agility skills and dog must already be on all full sized equipment. Along with this dogs/handlers will also be taught more complex handling skills, challenges and cues. Dogs must be proficient on all equipment at full height, successfully be able to maneuver a front cross, 90 degree turn, serpentine and pinwheel and also progressing toward 12 straight weave poles in order to move to competition agility.

Masters agility Skills Pre –requisite – Advanced agility skills
This class is for any dog/handler team that would like to build on individualized Master skills required for competition. Dogs must be on full height equipment and be progressing to 12 weave poles. In addition to the skills learned in advanced agility students will be required to learn to handle a dog through a 180 degree turn. Jumping skills, course analysis and memorization and competing skills will be learned in this class.
